muth family farm's organic csa week 7: swiss chard, cabbage, eggplant, sweet corn, kale, green onion, carrot, basil, green leaf lettuce, purslane, beets, eight-ball squash, patty pan squash, cucumber and a nice set of melons=)
tonight's dinner - super fresh and surprisingly filling
dessert: my 1st jersey peach of the summer
question: what local in-season goodies have you been enjoying?
omg i just talked to a local farmer and he's saving me his last flat of no-spray blueberries, as well as two pecks of his peaches! It's time to freeze more fruit, and eat peaches til the juice is dripping from the chin to the floor in a huge puddle...
ReplyDeleteThat corn looks great!! I will only buy organic corn and I can never find it!! I love fresh corn though!!!
ReplyDeleterick, yay for you! more peachesss!=)
ReplyDeletesamantha, i can't find organic corn either. just my csa has it a few weeks out of the season. i want to grow my own next year - a family at the community garden did and it looks way easier than i thought it would be!
in london it's often difficult to establish that something's local but i did eat i 2 lovely ripe peaches from a street stall today ... so good!
ReplyDeleteI keep sneaking new potatoes from the plant cause they are just so good. I have to stop or there wont be any to harvest at the end of the season :)

ReplyDeleteI so need to stock up on peaches - local ones that is. :) You have such an awesome csa. Everything looks so amazing everytime. And that salad! Yum!

ReplyDeleteThe local Panamanian fruits I've been enjoying have included pineapple, bananas, plantains, yucca, breadfruit, watermelon, papaya, and coconut. Mmmmm.
