muth family farm's organic csa week 4: escarole, green leaf lettuce, curled kale, scallions, amaranth greens, curly endive, dill, mizuna, basil, chioggia beets, eight-ball squash, cucumbers, kohlrabi, yellow squash and zucchini (the red gladiolus was from a friend at the community garden.)
amaranth
kohlrabi
tofu stir-fry with kohlrabi, mizuna, amaranth greens and eight-ball squash over quinoa
zucchini muffins
the tofu stir-fry was absolutely yummy, though i burned my hand in the process. but... da-da-da-DA, plantain to the rescue! not only does it help my burny bladder (tmi?) it heals burnt and bug-bitten skin. did i mention it grows like a weed in my yard? and that it is a weed?=)
i hope to be back soon to show you what else i've been doing with the produce. (any ideas for curly endive or escarole besides soup?)

Haven't had a CSA membership since I moved from SoCal to Atlanta a couple of years ago, but your pics are slowly convincing me I just may have to find a local farm to support.
ReplyDeleteDidn't know that about plantains! Yummy stir fry!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing what you get in your CSA! Fun to figure out what to do with such a variety. Your stir fry looks amazing :)
ReplyDeleteUmmm---so inviting. And gorgeous, too.
ReplyDeleteIt looks terrific! Our area got something like this for the first time this year, but they wanted a LOT of money to do it, and there was no indication at all of what they supply. I mean, easily 4 times what I would pay for a comparable amount of veggies at the farm. So we keep supporting the last farm nearby, as we have since I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteHope your IC gets better soon! I get that too (usually at a certain time of the month). Never tried Plantain... The stir-fry looks amazing! As do the muffins x
