anyone else joining me in a stupor bowl boycott?
how will you choose to spend your time today?
perhaps i'll take a walk, stretch, meditate, do some garden planning, make food, tidy up, read anne of green gables or wild fermentation (my latest library treasures), play/nap with biggles and johnny boy, blog and/or call my mom.=)
I am definitely joining you!! Aside from enjoying delicious food and maybe socializing with friends, I have never understood the point of the Superbowl.
ReplyDeleteyes, spending time with friends/family i can understand, but i'd rather do that without the boob tube on.=)
ReplyDeleteAs a 'Pittsburgher', I always choose to do other things when we are in the Superbowl. One year we went skiing and we were the only ones on the slopes. It is a great time to get out there and enjoy western PA as no one is anywhere away from the TV.
ReplyDeleteHahha I like your quote at the bottom. It's pretty true! I don't enjoy superbowl either, but since we moved away from family and this is our first superbowl away from family, I am supporting my husband and watching with him. I LOVE anne of green gables!
ReplyDeleteLove that Daniel Marsh quote.
ReplyDeleteToday we played on the ice covered lake with the grandson, walked the dog, cooked up a big veggy meal for the chickens and I am about to continue reading "The Gardener's Guide To Better Soil" by Gene Logsdon...so far an excellent book. I bought "Wild Fermentation" last year and it has become an excellent reference for me as we are big on foods like kim chi and sauerkraut around here in the winter.
Enjoy the rest of your stuper bowl free day.:)
I'm with you, girl. Listened to Gabriel Cousens speak online for several hours, organized, tidied and basically relaxed. Couldn't be happier. :o)
ReplyDeleteYeah, we think it is stupid--I think the commercials are even more stupid.
ReplyDeleteOur country is programmed and brainwashed by the boob tube. I wish I could smash ours but I'd get in trouble from the hubby.
I did make a yummy guacamole though!!
Peace & Raw Health,
E
Worked in the garden all day and watched a little of the game with Sweet Husband.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I was going to be able to boycott the Superbowl without even trying, seeing as I live in Australia and almost no one cares about it... but then I drove to my parents' place to say hi to my mum and my dad was home from work watching it! :P
ReplyDeleteyou obviously live in a city who has no football championship history. still, i understand your point though i bet most of the commenters here who said negative things about the super bowl still watch other things on tv that are much more considered "brain programming" than football. sports/game/competition has been around since the dawn of time, whereas sitcoms, dramas, movies and soap operas can be credited to modern man's search for idiocy.
ReplyDeleteWell, I didn't read your post until this morning, but I was totally with you on not watching the Superbowl. We don't have TV, so it wasn't really an option anyway, but the husband and I don't like watching sports so it didn't really matter. Rick (above) actually has a good point though - not talking about your commenters specifically, but in general there is a lot trashier/dumber stuff on TV than football. I hadn't really thought of it that way as I've been complaining about the SB!
ReplyDeletenot into football much. i do like other sports sometimes but i find it too competitive for the most part. so i was a kindred spirit, making food, reading, napping, cuddling with critters, walking, and talking to my mom.
ReplyDeleteanother point, i do think there is worse tv than football, however it seems the superbowl has turned into ads and getting drunk and eating junk food. if it was JUST about a game, it wouldn't be putting people into a STUPOR.
