muth mundee: organic csa week three

ever here someone from south philly say monday? i love it. today was actually week four of my muth mundees. since i didn't bring home anything new, i'm just going to show last week's basket.

broccoli, kale, lettuce, rainbow chard, spinach, zucchini, yellow and eight ball squash, chioggia beets, red cabbage, cucumber, and squash blossoms.

the blueberries were $3.50/pint and from a local organic farm in hammonton, a cute town that calls itself the blueberry capital of the world! later at a produce market, they were selling conventional blueberries two pints for $4. much cheaper yes, but those blueberries were most likely sprayed, and probably shipped from mexico, which is not the blueberry capital of the world.=)

hope your week is off to a great start! it's been soggy here, but since i can't remember the last time i needed to water the garden, you won't hear me complaining!=)

figgy loves all this rain, and the new butterfly garden to the left is taking off. more pics to come.

ps. i'm sorry to those afflicted by all the rain. i know some areas are being hit hard. xoxoxo

  1. your fig tree is beautiful!! I adore fresh figs. I actually grew a black fig tree way down here in the south and harvested two years of fruit from it then it died :(
    Very sad!!

    1. thank you elizabeth! that is sad! we almost lost ours the first year. she wasn't planted deep enough and roots were exposed. now i add a nice amount of compost to the base every spring.
