spring has sprung

we've been blessed with some nice warm sunny days for gardening. venturing about i found a patch of pretty wildflowers growing alongside our home...


and discovered the hyacinth bulbs planted last fall have sprouted!


the garlic bulbs have also sprouted, all but one.


the beds were turned and black gold (worm poop) was added. this is our third year composting and it's amazing to see how many worms and other creepy crawlies are feasting in our bins.



these carrots were left last fall because then they were too small to be picked. i wonder how they taste.


there were also some september kale babies...



and pansies!


biggles came out to enjoy the fresh air and munch on some grass. (don't worry, the vet said it's good for her. soon she'll have her own wheat grass to chomp.=)

    So pretty pictures! In Estonia it's still cold, there's snow and ice. But I can see the slowly melting. Spring isn't far!

    Great shots, Kelli! I wish I could grow stuff here in north Texas, but the soil is a heavy clay. The residential lots are so small I can't even construct raised beds. Sigh...

    Great garden shots! We were going to plant garlic too, but I think I cooked my master bulb. :-( Anyhow, my kale looks suspiciously like yours. The carrots should be interesting - tough maybe, but edible.

    Wow! Awesome! That's so cool that so much stuff came bouncing back out of the pots! Today I walked around the neighborhood and saw the flower stems sprouting. Very little makes me that happy! :)

    Kelli, I just LOVE the way I feel when I read your blog. It's like I am right there enjoying all of this with you. Biggles is the definition of precious. We don't experience seasons in Bali and I certainly do miss that. I am embracing the luscious rice fields though. Thank you so much for sharing this.
