a quick hello and a digestive support tea recipe

hello hello! i hope you're all having a nice weekend. it's flurrying here! i'm enjoying a restful day indoors, knowing that next weekend and probably each one after will be spent doing garden work.

just wanted to stop in and say that i'm learning so much about oxalates and how they could be causing the discomfort i've been experiencing. i've got myself on a low to medium oxalate diet and have been pain-free for two days. after i wrap my head around everything, i plan to do an in-depth, detailed post. i'm even thinking of doing a video, but we'll see if i have the courage to post it.=)

along with low-oxalate eating, i've been drinking a lot of herbal teas. my sweet mom made me my favorite childhood meal of stuffed cabbages, but i was hesitant to partake because of the high oxalate tomatoes and the uncomfortable gas i usually experience with cabbage. so i made myself a tea with herbs and spices known to help with digestion, and lo and behold, it worked!

since many are celebrating st. patrick's day tomorrow with various gas-inducing treats, i wanted to share this tea recipe. you may already have some of the ingredients in your spice cabinet. you can omit any, but in my experience the combination of fennel and caraway seed works best.

digestive support tea

1 tsp fennel powder
1 tsp ground caraway seed
1 tsp cardamom powder
1 tsp dried mint leaves

place ingredients in a tea ball or tea filter and steep 10 to 15 minutes in 1 to 2 cups of hot water. for best results, drink before and after meal.

enjoy the rest of your weekend!

what's new

(image via pinterest. i've been pinning. a lot. if you'd like, you can see my pinboards here.)

happy march, everyone! hippity hoppity, spring is on its way!=)

it was a calm but productive weekend. i've been dealing with an interstitial cystitis flare-up, and i'm learning more about this so-called condition and how i can heal it naturally.

the seedlings are growing nicely, and i found a great deal on yoga classes - 5 for $19!!!

what's new with you?
